Multi Engine Rating – Aeroplanes
Flying a multi-engine aircraft presents new challenges to the pilot. Not only are there two engines to manage but also being in control of an aircraft with a much higher performance. This entails increased requirements for responsibility, skills and care.
General requirements for a Multi-Engine Rating:
- Age – An applicant shall be a minimum of eighteen years of age.
- Medical Fitness – An applicant shall hold a valid Class 1 or Class 2 Aviation Medical Certificate.
- Certificates – An applicant shall hold at least a current Private Pilot License.
Multi-Engine Rating (Aeroplanes) – ME
Minimum Requirements:
- Age: 18+
- Medical: Class 1 or 2 Aviation Medical Certificate
- Technical Ground School: 7 hours minimum
- Flight Training: 5 hours minimum
- Required License: Private Pilot License (PPL)

- Knowledge: Complete 7 hours of technical ground school
- Experience: Complete 5 hours of multi-engine flight time
