Multi Engine Rating – Aeroplanes

Flying a multi-engine aircraft presents new challenges to the pilot. Not only are there two engines to manage but also being in control of an aircraft with a much higher performance. This entails increased requirements for responsibility, skills and care.

General requirements for a Multi-Engine Rating:

  • Age – An applicant shall be a minimum of eighteen years of age.
  • Medical Fitness – An applicant shall hold a valid Class 1 or Class 2 Aviation Medical Certificate.
  • Certificates – An applicant shall hold at least a current Private Pilot License.

Multi-Engine Rating (Aeroplanes) – ME

Minimum Requirements:

  • Age: 18+
  • Medical: Class 1 or 2 Aviation Medical Certificate
  • Technical Ground School: 7 hours minimum
  • Flight Training: 5 hours minimum
  • Required License: Private Pilot License (PPL)
