Multi Engine Rating – Aeroplanes

Flying a multi-engine aircraft presents new challenges to the pilot. Not only are there two engines to manage but also being in control of an aircraft with a much higher performance. This entails increased requirements for responsibility, skills and care.

General requirements for a Multi-Engine Rating:

  • Age – An applicant shall be a minimum of eighteen years of age.
  • Medical Fitness – An applicant shall hold a valid Class 1 or Class 2 Aviation Medical Certificate.
  • Certificates – An applicant shall hold at least a current Private Pilot License.

Overview

The Multi-Engine Rating (ME) develops the skills required to safely operate multi-engine aircraft, including engine management, aircraft performance, and emergency procedures.

Basic Requirements

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Aviation Medical Certificate: Class 1
  • Private Pilot License (PPL)/Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
  • 50 hours PIC
